The Stark County Suicide Prevention Coalition is primarily funded by the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Stark County.

Who we are
Representatives from over 20 local community organizations working together to save lives.
Mission: To promote a well-informed and empowered community so that mental illness is known to be treatable and suicide preventable.
Goals:
- To increase public awareness and change public perception regarding depression as a treatable illness and suicide as a preventable crisis.
- To identify and train gatekeepers who are likely to have access to and interaction with those contemplating suicide. These may include: all school staff, primary care physicians, nurses, clergy, unions, EAP's, barbers, hairdressers, visiting nurses, home health aides, senior activity centers, mail
carriers and bartenders.

How you can help:
- Educate yourself - learn about risk and protective factors.
- Invite a Coalition representative to your business, school, church, or social group to provide you with a gatekeeper training.
- Volunteer to be part of the Coalition or consider having your business join the coalition.
- Examine your business practices /school policies about how people are supported during times of great stress.
- Advocate for suicide prevention.
- Participate in our fundraising to help provide financial support for Coalition activities / initiatives.
- Be your brother's keeper.
