With a staff of seven drivers, operating four vehicles, Job Taxi operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Its purpose is to provide reliable transportation to and from schools and workplaces for people with mental illnesses who are receiving services from one of the community mental health centers. The program also serves clients of the Child and Adolescent Service Center who are entering the workforce.

During the past two years, the program has grown significantly. At first utilization averaged 40 riders a month, but today the Job Taxi program averages 800 to 950 riders each month.

Begun with an Operation Spark Plug grant, the Job Taxi program is now solely supported by SCCMHB funds and fares. Passengers pay $1 for each 5 miles of their trip, and destinations can be any location within Stark County.
