Coleman Professional Services has a proven track record in assisting individuals with mental illness succeed in competitive employment. Since its beginning in 1978, Coleman Professional Services has provided vocational development and placement for persons with disabilities. They currently provide employment services in Portage, Trumbull, Mahoning, Columbiana, and Summit counties. Successful collaborations have been formed with numerous employers including: Parker Hannifin, Farmex, Kapco, Portage County District Recycling Center, and First Energy in Portage County, Integrated Health Services, Inc., Sears, Sam?s Club, Outback Restaurants, YMCA, and Target in Trumbull County, and Country Fair Convenience Stores, Perkins Restaurants, Plumbers & Pipefitters Union, and Big Lots in Mahoning County, and Sage Computer Services in Summit County.
Coleman Professional Services has received numerous state and federal grants for supported employment and accelerated employment, a research grant studying the impact of disclosure on employment outcomes and the Job Incentive Focus (JIF) grant. They have also worked collaboratively with Kent State University on vocational/employment research projects.
Coleman Professional Services has won two recent awards in 2001: The ?National Community Behavioral Healthcare?s Award of Excellence? in the Community Provider Category and the Ohio Department of Development?s Governor?s Award of Excellence in ?Outstanding Program Implementation?. They are certified by the Ohio Department of Mental Health to provide employment services and achieved Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accreditation for Residential, Vocational, Community Mental Health and Psychosocial Programs through January, 2004.
