On January 1, 2008, the Stark County Community Mental Health Board and the Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Board of Stark County were combined into one behavioral health organization, called the Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Stark County. The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Stark County (MHRSB) is made up of eighteen members from the Stark County community. These include ten appointments from the Stark County Commissioners, four appointments from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and four appointments from the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services.
The members of the Board are committed to ensuring that the behavioral health needs of Stark County residents are met in the most efficient, economic and effective way possible. The MHRSB oversees and funds agencies in Stark County that provide mental health and substance abuse prevention, intervention and treatment. The Board is responsible for assessing the needs of the community and ensuring that a continuum of care is in place. The Board is a safety net for the community, providing services to people who could not access them due to a lack of resources.
The Mental Health and Recovery Services Board of Stark County enriches lives through wellness and recovery by partnering with service provider agencies in the areas of mental health and alcohol and drug addiction prevention, intervention and treatment. The members of the Board, as well as staff employed by the Board, are committed to ensuring that all mental health or alcohol and drug prevention, intervention and treatment services are of the highest quality possible.
